ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Valley of Crimson Wonder was taken by photographer Neil McWee in Zion National Park, Utah in October 1995. The imagery captures The Subway, a geological formation, using an 8x10 camera with wide-angle lens, a high aperture, and a long exposure. The resulting landscape balances majestic forms, intricate detail and rich contrast.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Battle Ground School District.
