Purple Basket, 1996
Dona Anderson
(American, born 1928)
Location: Washington State Arts Commission, Yacolt
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Purple Basket was constructed by artist Dona Anderson in a contemporary style using traditional techniques. Speaking about the experience of constructing her baskets, Anderson notes: "Craftsmen are problem solvers. I like that. I can choose my subject, materials, colors, size and end result. Materials have a mind of the own, and that leads to a different method of resolve. All that is part of the process."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Battle Ground School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
