Presenting an Idea, 1991
Leland Standley
(American, born 1933, died 2016)
Location: Stratton Elementary, Newport
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Presenting an Idea is an impressionistic landscape painting by late artist Leland Standley. His use of color and detailed, gestural brushstrokes creates texture and a sense of atmospheric depth. He notes that this painting "has to do with trying. Trying to express an idea or trying to understand someone else's thought takes effort ... but it pays off, just like a slide coming into focus."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Newport School District.
