ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Skagit Valley Tulips (Red, Yellow, White) is part of artist Mindi Katzman's group of works that depict the landscape of the Skagit Valley in Northwestern Washington. Katzman was inspired by the formal beauty of the tulip fields, while also investigating man's imposition on nature. This is an encaustic painting, created through a process of layering and scraping away pastel and wax-based paints.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Stanwood School District.
