ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Out of the Box by Volkan Alkanoglu celebrates creativity and the boundless possibilities of thinking outside of conventional limits. This colorful artwork, located at the heart of the shared UW Bothell and Cascadia College campus, is a visual reminder of the transformative power of imagination and innovation. The sculpture is shaped like an upward- and outward-expanding box, made of hundreds of small, painted aluminum pieces.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with University of Washington.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Volkan Alkanoglu creates public art that explores materials, technology, and how humans interact in public spaces. He is based in the Pacific Northwest, in Portland, Oregon. Art installations by Alkanoglu can be found across the U.S.
