Alchemy 1, 2021

Rachel Wolf
(American, born 1978)

Location: Foothills Elementary, Buckley

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Rachel Wolf creates her camera-less images, such as 'Alchemy I', by directly exposing photographic materials, paper, and film, to light and chemicals. These are the basic elements of pre-digital photography. Her images invite us to consider what a photograph is or can be.

This artwork is part of a curated collection by Erin Dengerink in October 2021 at Foothills Elementary, in Buckley, Western Washington. The local art selection committee wanted artworks that are beautiful, intriguing, and spark imagination.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with White River School District.
