ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Donal Murphy created Cloud Formation by layering painted geometric forms over a photograph of storming clouds. It explores how we interpret what the universe communicates to us. He notes, "It is science fiction but also it is a metaphor for the way our environment is reacting now to the way in which us humans have and do behave."
Curator Kathleen Garrett selected this artwork as part of a collection of artworks for Peninsula College in Port Angeles. The artworks installed in Keegan Hall reflect the Pacific Northwest and the many subjects taught in the building. These include Aquaculture, Physics, Biology, and Information Technology.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Peninsula College.
