Rocks and Books, 1992
Patrick Anderson
(American, born 1961)
Location: Utsalady Elementary, Camano Island
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Inspired by the realism of old master works, artist Patrick Anderson created the still-life painting Rocks and Books by composing objects in his studio. Often choosing books as his subjects, Anderson notes that he likes to arrange books "in an architectonic manner, like a cityscape. The books become like building or rocks in a landscape."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Stanwood School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Seattle-based artist Patrick Anderson creates still-life and cityscape drawings and prints that bring together classical artistic techniques in modern, graphic compositions.
