ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Rare Books is a set of four hand-bound books created by artist Linda Beaumont. One book is displayed at a time, rotating with the changing of the seasons. They are displayed on a podium placed within a shrine. Written by the artist, the books consider the cycles of the four seasons and reference Native American mythology and natural science.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with University of Washington - Bothell and Cascadia Community College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Seattle-based artist Linda Beaumont creates paintings, sculptures, and large-scale installations for public spaces. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and ceramics from the University of Washington in Seattle.
