ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Cork Marcheschi created 'The Dory' to act as a beacon in the night. It appears to be a dream-like boat floating above the Hoquiam River near the Pacific Coast.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Corrections.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
California-based artist Cork Marcheschi creates sculptures and installations for public spaces. He works in a variety of mediums to respond to each site. His use of light references our human response to nature.
Marcheschi attended California State College in Hayward. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland.
