ABOUT THE ARTWORK
River Habitat Series #5 is a print by artist Gina Freuen. It is part of a group of works on paper created by the artist as a way stir up new ideas for her ceramic artworks. She created this piece by printing out a layered composition of scanned drawings. She then added images printed on transparent vellum paper. The piece is completed with a layer of graphite drawing. She notes that the imagery in this piece is "relevant to my life as an artist, working with my hands, my love of gardening and nature."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Napavine School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ceramic and mixed media artist Gina Freuen incorporates multiple techniques into her intricate works of pottery. These techniques include hand building, wheel throwing, pressing, carving, and hand drawing.
Freuen lives and works in Spokane, Eastern Washington, where she teaches at Gonzaga University.
