ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Designed to resemble a bird in flight, Wings Like a Crane is part of a series of baskets in which artist Dona Anderson explores linear forms and the natural curve of her materials. It is constructed from raffia-wrapped reeds, designed to leave the ends exposed for a dynamic contrast in material and color.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tahoma School District.

Seattle-based fiber artist Dona Anderson uses traditional basketry techniques to create abstract and conceptual baskets in a variety of materials.
