ABOUT THE ARTWORK
'Wenatchee Quilt (Washington Wing of Lincoln School' is a ceramic tile mural created by artist Maggie Smith. It combines a geometric quilt pattern with plant and animal images. The landscape surrounding Wenatchee inspired her imagery.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Wenatchee School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Maggie Smith is a ceramic artist based on Bainbridge Island, on Puget Sound, Western Washington. Smith was born in New Hampshire. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Delaware in 1972 and a Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from Indiana State University in 1977. She has served as an artist-in-residence for the Washington State Arts Commission and for Seattle Public Schools.
