Germination Song explores artist Stephen Yates' interest in light, energy and movement. It is comprised of gestural, lively, and layered brushstrokes in bold colors. The artist notes that this piece "reminds me of both an enlarged view into a developing seed and a vast scene of enegry currents moving through a garden."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Stanwood School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Artist Stephen Yates creates paintings with bold, expressive strokes and abstract imagery. Inspired by landscapes, under water life, and the cosmos, his work investigates color relationships and the interaction of forms. Yates lives and works in Port Townsend, on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwestern Washington.
