ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Stephen Yates composed the painting Oak Bay Web based on the view from his home on Marrowstone Island, near Port Townsend, Washington. Energetic brushstrokes form a grid framing the landscape. The artist notes, “The foreground imagery is a "web" which suggests the interconnectedness between the land and ourselves; the ecologic web that connects all plant and animal life in an ecosystem.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Transportation.
