ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Firestorm Forest is a painting by artist Stephen Yates, featuring expressive brush marks to emphasize layers of movement. The composition suggests "a fire with the hot winds that are generated with forest trees in the midst of it," and with this piece Yates intends to reference how fire can be seen as both destructive and beneficial to habitat.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Battle Ground School District.
