ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Walking Merit Home is an intricate and whimsical colored-pencil drawing by artist Bet Borgeson. Many of the artist's drawings depict a narrative that is open for interpretation by the viewer. The artist created this composition, featuring a draft horse and farmer, to suggest partnership, and she notes that just as "men relied on their horses for strength and endurance, so the horses relied on men for care and well-being."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bethel School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
