Fulfilling One's Destiny; Advancing Against the Current, 2009
Ken Spiering
(American, born 1950)
Location: Orting Middle School, Orting
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Ken Spiering's Fulfilling One's Destiny; Advancing Against the Current references fishing on Orting's Puyallup and Carbon Rivers. The city of Orting sits in a fertile valley between the two major rivers, 30 miles from Mount Rainier, in Western Washington. The tile artwork also suggests the acts of demonstrating leadership and creativity even if it means swimming upstream.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Orting School District.
