ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Barry Herem sculpted Open Window: Looking Glass as an all-seeing eye for the Washington State Patrol's Crime Laboratory in Vancouver, Southwestern Washington. It represents the police and citizens who work together, with a protective gaze, to solve crime. Herem carved the original in wood. It was then used to make a mold and be cast in hot glass.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Patrol.

Northwest artist Barry Herem creates sculptures inspired by the forms and symbolism found in the Native American artistic traditions of the Pacific Northwest Coast. Herem is a non-Native artist.
