Ridge Near Pullman, 1998

Anne Fiske
(American, born 1948)

Location: Washington State Arts Commission, Olympia

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Anne Fiske created the landscape painting Ridge Near Pullman . It shows the view from a ridge west of Moscow, Idaho looking toward the city of Pullman, Washington on a clear winter evening. She states that this piece in particular reminds her of the song "Landslide" by the band Fleetwood Mac. She notes, "I have painted this particular scene quite a few times and other similar to it. I have gone back to the site often and have sketched and photographed the view from different angles, in different weather and different years. The land is always changing, not just the cycle of the vegetation but also the contours of this ridge area change over time."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Federal Way School District.
