Study Falls, 2002

Frank Samuelson
(American, born 1949)

Location: Lower Columbia College, Longview

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The idea for artist Frank Samuelson's charming painting Study Falls came to him while sitting in a bubbling hot tub. He notes, "The thought of sitting in a chair in a waterfall came into my mind. That thought then coalesced into an image of an overstuffed easy chair. I added the Sol Due waterfall in the background, to complete an upstream continuation of the river medium. The salmon element provides a living component to the moving river."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lower Columbia College.
