Jerry Scheideman
(American, born 1932, died 2003)
Location: Snohomish High School, Snohomish
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Colors of the King is a painting by artist Jerry Scheideman. He saw many geometric patterns and motifs while living in Istanbul, Turkey, which inspired this composition. Describing his process, he notes, "I work in two stages. First, I work with geometric forms until I am satisfied with the composition. Then I start to paint. I paint layer over layer of color in a process of removing, softening, and repainting until I am happy with the results."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Snohomish School District.
