ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Minor Madrona Moment #20 is part of artist Robert Demar's series of photographs taken in the San Juan Islands. The images study and capture the unique shapes, patterns, and textures of Madrona Trees. Demar notes that these images attempt to "capture the underlying 'magic' of nature's work."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bellingham School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Photographer Robert Demar captures images that celebrate nature and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest landscape.
Demar was born in California and moved to Seattle as a young boy. He started taking photos and working in his own dark room in the 1970s. He has been based on San Juan Island, in North Puget Sound, Western Washington, since 1989.
