Rising into The Light, 2024

Ken Spiering
(American, born 1950)

Location: Roosevelt Elementary School, Granger, Granger

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Rising into The Light by Ken Spiering is a statement about the value of education. He notes, "The choice of this iconic American symbol of the bald eagle was made because it inspires so much about freedom, of flight, of being in control of your own life, of elegance and grace, and especially of being capable of reaching great heights." The eagle is a fitting symbol with its ability – with the support of favorable winds – to rise into a higher plane where it can see far and wide. It also symbolizes the goals and aspirations of all teachers of children.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Granger School District.
