ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Out of School is an expressive painting by artist Jo Fyfe. The imagery playfully depicts a school of fish swimming inside and outside a central circle. The title and idea for the painting asks the viewer to think about individuality and community. She notes, “To stray a bit is important and a bit of an adventure, but we must be careful not to go too far or we are in jeopardy of being ‘caught.’”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lakewood School District.
