(American, born 1924, died 2019)
Location: Cedar Heights Middle School, Covington
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Late photographer Mary Randlett has documented the northwest landscape since the 1940s, exploring what she calls the "aesthetic energy" of nature. Makah Bay captures the sun setting over the ocean in the northwest corner of Washington state. Speaking of the moment she took this image, Randlett noted, "I saw a wonderful molten river-like form on the sandy beach and the beautiful clouds and forms dancing in the light...everywhere I saw a photograph".
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Kent School District.
