ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Chelan Shore is a landscape painting by artist Kathryn Altus that explores relationships between form and color. Altus notes that she is intrigued by the tension between natural beauty and human impact. She describes how the contrasting red buoy in this piece "can be seen as both a disturbing intrusion in to nature and/or a comforting symbol of humanity and culture."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Puyallup School District.
