Art in Public Places - 2008 Public Artist Roster Competition

The online application for the Public Artist Roster is closed. The deadline to apply was June 16, 2008 at 5 pm. The roster competition is held every two or three years.

Applications will be available online for our next competition, to be held in 2010 or 2011. If you are considering applying, please review our Frequently Asked Questions page.

The roster consists of professional visual artists eligible for commissions of new work through WSAC's Art in Public Places program. Selected artists will be qualified for site responsive percent-for-art projects with budgets from $25,000 to $300,000 in colleges, universities, public schools, and state agencies in Washington State.

A professional peer review jury evaluates applications based on diverse criteria including artistic excellence and technical abilities. The jury includes artists and arts professionals, and changes each time a competition is held.

Eligibility

Artists from Washington, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, and British Columbia are eligible to apply. Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an ongoing course of study in visual arts are ineligible.

Artists from outside the region are nominated to apply by a member of the professional peer review jury.
