Everett Community College - Art in Public Places

Bloom, by Seattle artist Beliz Brother, is a multi-layered artwork that fills the area between a bridge and a window of the atrium in Gray Wolf Hall on the campus of Everett Community College.

The artwork is constructed from Eco-Resin with LED lights imbedded in to the sculpture. A computer controlled light system creates a variable pattern of light and is programmed to change through the day, week, and season.

"The metaphor for the artwork is of a small bud that grows into a flower in full bloom," said the artist. "The artwork, which is seen from both the interior and exterior of Gray Wolf Hall...has one particular viewpoint from the center of the bridge. At this place all of the layers line up to form a perfect image of a flower in full bloom."

Artwork acquired through Washington State’s Art in Public Places program becomes part of the State Art Collection - a collection of over 4,600 works of art located at state agencies, public schools, colleges and universities throughout the state.
