Grants to Organizations - Project Support

Project Support funds small arts organizations and community service groups through matching grants for specific arts events targeted to a public audience in two rounds every year. On average, more than 70 organizations receive project support funds. This funding supports a diverse array of performances, workshops, and participation opportunities from Anacortes to Wenatchee.

Camerata Musica in Richland received funding to present works by well-known baroque composers, featuring high-quality classical chamber music ensembles in eastern Washington. Camerata Musica is recognized as an important cultural asset in this part of the state, providing local accessibility to classical music, and an important opportunity for local young performers to participate in a yearly concert.

The Chinese Opera R&D Association in Lakewood received project funding for the Chinese Opera, The World of Love. This event broadened the organization’s audience in Tacoma and included a sold out performance held at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. The success of their productions introduces a facet of Chinese traditional culture into a multi-cultural Northwest community, and transmits artistry and values to a younger generation.

Youth Theater NW is committed to its outreach program to provide theater arts education to a more diverse audience of children, youth and their families who may not have the financial resources or the exposure to the arts in their communities. The Arts Commission supported Youth Theater NW’s summer production of the musical Seussical in which over 60 kids participated and received technical training.

School, college, student or education projects; private and restricted events; and programs and events not open to the general public are not eligible for this program.
