Grants to Organizations - Arts Participation Initiative Booklet

The 16-page evaluation summary booklet for WSAC's Arts Participation Initiative, Building Strong Communities Through the Arts (PDF) is now available. It was written by Carina Del Rosario and designed by Pei Pei Sung, based on Louise Stevens’ report.

Building Strong Communities describes the 15 organizations from the first three years of funding under the Initiative, a program focusing on underserved communities, multiyear funding and training for organizational capacity. The publication tells wonderful stories of model organizations working on effective programs in Washington communities that are largely ethnic, low income, rural and/or disabled.

We are distributing it in the Puget Sound area, regionally and nationally, to arts service agencies, to government and private funders and to our “authorizing environment” (commissioners, governor and legislators).

The second round of 13 Arts Participation grantees are working on their second year of arts participation projects and training sessions. Their stories of success in building strong communities will be summarized in the future.
