| Governor's Heritage Award - Bin-Liang WangBin Liang Wang currently resides in Bellevue, Washington. Wang submerged himself in the rich art form of Beijing Opera in his native China for over four decades before bringing this tradition to Washington State. Wang has shared his superb knowledge and skill in all aspects through local opera groups, the Chinese community, and the general public of the Pacific Northwest since 1988. Although he is an expert advisor on all aspects of Beijing Opera, including history, script, costume, and staging, Wang considers himself primarily a musician and he is held is high regard for his proficiency on the jing-hu, a two-string instrument comparable to the violin, as well as several other stringed and percussion instruments used in Beijing Opera. Wang regularly performs with and advises Beijing Opera Clubs in Seattle, Tacoma, and Vancouver, British Columbia. |
