When asked about her approach as a Teaching Artist, Ms. Olson wrote this: “It is my belief that a creatively engaged mind is a teachable mind. The more students are allowed to explore and investigate, the more alive they become and the more connected they are to their community. My goal as a teaching artist is to create a need for artistic expression in the lives of my students and a deep desire to follow that need. I want students to be willing to explore the unknown, to reach beyond what is expected and to allow their imaginations freedom. Through this process they will become capable of working with the the creative process to visualize and bring to fruition their ideas. I enjoy integrating my teaching projects with the classroom curriculum. I am patient, experienced, well prepared, flexible, enthusiastic, intuitive and committed to quality and integrity in my work.”
