Biography: Nina Crampton received her BA in Fine Art from Lancaster University, UK, and her Teaching Certificate from St. Luke's College, Exeter. As a painter, she has exhibited her work in a variety of galleries. She has taught in a diverse range of schools in both the UK and the USA, including K-12 public and private schools, adult classes and in the prisons. Traveling to the USA on a Fulbright exchange, Nina fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and made Seattle her home. Over the last eight years, Nina has worked as a mural artist in both residential and commercial settings; served as an Artist in Residence in schools; completed a commission for the Army Corps of Engineers; and worked as a scenic designer for the Pacific Northwest Ballet, a window artist for Nordstrom and a marine artist for the Seattle Boat Show. Nina has shared her passion for art in the After School Art program at Whittier Elementary School and as a visiting artist at Whitman Middle School and Ingraham High School.

When asked about her approach as a Teaching Artist, Ms. Crampton wrote this: "I set the bar high as a teacher, expecting much from myself and the people that I teach. I believe that, with great organization, clear and efficient teaching methods, and a safe and friendly teaching environment, success is guaranteed. I want my students to feel the rush of excitement that comes with accomplishment and self satisfaction. Everybody can draw and paint; you just need a few key facts and away you go. It is not a magical gift, but rather a tune waiting to be sung. If someone can hum alongside, you can learn the rhythm. My constant inspiration is the joy and passion of the creative process and the desire to pass that on to others and not keep it only for myself."
