Arts in Education - Arts Education WeekFor the third year in a row, Governor Chris Gregoire signed a proclamation designating Arts Education Week in Washington State. This year Arts Education Week is May 11-17, 2008, and we invite you to help us celebrate around the state.
The Governor’s proclamation serves as a spotlight for the collective efforts of arts educators throughout Washington, and provides a coordinated opportunity for schools and communities around the state to recognize the value of arts education, to celebrate local arts education achievements, and to focus attention on the necessary work ahead to ensure “Arts for Every Student.”
In past years we have invited every community in the state to join with us in celebrating this week as a symbol of the importance of arts education all year long. We hope that the governor’s proclamation is used as a model for local proclamations, in order to help call attention to the critical value of arts education.
