Includes practical help on how to write the application and how to develop a budget, along with extensive resource materials. Nuts and Bolts of Nonprofit ManagementA checklist and explanation of all the various forms, filings, fiscal matters and other details that will help to keep you nonprofit organization on the “straight and narrow” (2 hours).
Promoting Your EventLooks at grass roots, home-town promotion techniques. This workshop explores how information flows through informal channels and how you can tap into those channels. New technologies are also introduced as promotional tools (1½ to 2 hours).
Project ManagementYou have a great idea, now how do you make it happen? This workshop covers steering committees, project planning, timelines, communications, contracting, finances, and evaluation. The workbook includes forms you can copy for use (2½ hours).
Opening the Toolkit - Processes to Make Meetings WorkHow does brainstorming work and when should it be used? When is the appropriate time to use a flow chart, or revert to Roberta’s Rules of Order. The workshop looks at effective decision-making and the processes to make it happen in your group (2½ - 3 hours).
Real Inclusivity - Reaching People With DisabilitiesPeople with disabilities are artists, audiences, and supporters for your organization. In Washington State roughly 17% of the population has a disability. Discover how to make your programs truly accessible and how to reach out to this important part of your community (2 hours).
Nonprofit, Tax-Exempt Organizations - Who, What, When, Why, HowThis workshop explores what a nonprofit is, what tax-exempt is, when this form of governance is appropriate, who should consider it, and the legal steps that must be taken to form such an organization (2 - 2½ hours).
Building Arts ParticipationWhether its gaining more audience members, increasing your volunteer base, or enticing artists to join you, the newest research on arts participation gives you real clues about building a sustainable arts organization (2 hours).
LAA’s - An IntroductionLocal Arts Agencies are organizations that are concerned with the cultural health and well being of a community. They are usually called arts councils or arts commissions but can have a variety of names. This workshop talks about what LAA’s are, gives some examples of what they do, and offers some steps to developing an LAA for your community (2½ - 3 hours. )
Public ArtMany communities want to enhance their public spaces with artwork that everyone can enjoy - sculpture, painting, murals, environmental works, and other forms. This workshop explains the elements of a successful public art program from artist selection procedures through to dedication of the artwork and everything in between (2 hours). Connecting the Dots - Making Touring Work for YouYou are a fabulous performer with a great show all ready to go. All you need is an audience! This workshop will explain the resources available that can help you connect with presenters, what you need to make these structures work for you, and some hints about how to thrive as a touring artist. The first nine workshops are generic, although most of the stories and examples come from the arts. Any nonprofit can benefit from these workshops. The remaining workshops are exclusively for artists or arts organizations.
