Creative Forces Summit
September 26, 2017 - Museum of Glass
Collaborating with Americans for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, ArtsWA hosted the first Creative Forces Summit in Washington State on September 26, 2017 at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. Creative Forces is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. The partnership places creative arts therapies at the core of patient-centered care at 11 military medical
facilities across the country. Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord is one of the medical facilities in the network.
The purpose of the summit was to gather interested individuals and organizations from the local arts community and the military to increase access to therapeutic arts activities for military personnel, veterans, and their families around Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The summit was planned by an ad hoc Creative Forces Summit Organizing Committee comprised of representatives from arts organizations, artists, creative therapists, and state agencies.
